Master of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Clinical Medicine

Degree Requirements

1. Students must complete the first 6 required courses (26 credits) in Table (I) and the 8 elective courses (8 credits) in Table (II) within the study period, totaling 34 credits. 2. Under the guidance of a supervisor, students will conduct clinical or basic clinical research. Students are required to read professional literature, conduct literature reviews, and prepare a research proposal. Clinical research requires rotations in different departments to develop comprehensive clinical skills and to conduct specialized clinical research. Basic clinical research requires conducting basic clinical scientific research in a laboratory setting. 3. During the degree program, students must publish at least one academic paper as the first author or co-first author that meets one of the following criteria to be eligible to defend their thesis. 3.1 Published in the *Chinese Core Journals Directory* (Note 1) or the *Chinese Science and Technology Journal Citation Report* (including the core and extended versions) (Note 2); 3.2 Academic papers are graded as Special Grade, First Grade, or Second Grade according to the *Macau University of Science and Technology Academic Achievement Evaluation Method* (Note 3); 3.3 Academic papers written and published by postgraduate students should be related to the content of their graduation thesis and should be reviewed and approved by their supervisor before submission. 3.4 The first affiliation of the academic paper must be the Faculty of Chinese Medicine, Macau University of Science and Technology, and the supervisor should be the corresponding author or co-corresponding author. If the first affiliation of the academic paper is not the Faculty of Chinese Medicine, or the supervisor is not the corresponding author or co-corresponding author, the paper will not be accepted for thesis defense. 3.5 The academic papers mentioned in these regulations are full-text papers published in journals. Abstracts and conference papers in any form are not acceptable. 3.6 Based on the research content, write and complete a master's thesis of no less than 20,000 words, and defend it. The master's thesis must pass review and defense. Note 1: *Comprehensive List of Chinese Core Journals* – compiled by journal staff and experts from Peking University Library and more than a dozen university libraries in Beijing, and can be found in university libraries or colleges. Note 2: *Chinese Science and Technology Journal Citation Report* (Core Edition, Extended Edition) – edited and published by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), can be found in university libraries or colleges. Learning Time

The duration for taking all courses is 12 months and the duration for clinical practice and/or research as well as thesis writing is 18 months.

Qualifications of Graduation

Upon approval from the Senate of the University, a Master’s Degree will be conferred on a student when he or she has: 1.Completed and met the requirements prescribed in the study plan of his or her program within the specific study period, and achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above (excluding thesis) 2.Abided by the regulations of the University 3.Cleared all fees and charges and returned all University’s property and equipment borrowed Note: All curriculums and study plans are based on the newest announcement of the Boletim Oficial da Região Administrativa Especial de Macau.
